David Knabe

Trainee Lawyer

Biography

David began his academic journey in the United Kingdom, where he graduated with an LL.B. in English Law with International Relations from the University of Sussex (2016). He then pursued an LL.M. in International and European Law at the University of Amsterdam (2017) in the Netherlands.

Upon returning to Geneva, he completed an internship at the International Trade Centre, contributing to sustainable development projects in East Africa. This experience provided him with valuable insight into the functioning of international institutions and their collaboration with States.

With the ambition of qualifying as a lawyer in Switzerland, he resumed his studies at the University of Geneva, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, and the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Legal Professions (ECAV – Geneva School of Lawyers).

During his studies, he gained practical experience in several Geneva-based law firms and actively participated in student associations. Notably, he was elected Co-President of the Swiss LegalTech Association – Geneva Student Chapter. He also worked for the Digital Law Center of the University of Geneva in the organization of the 2024 Summer School.

David has also a strong interest in data protection and artificial intelligence. His Master’s thesis examined the legal implications of AI-generated facial images.

Beyond his professional interests, he is passionate about languages and has developed a particular interest in East Asian cultures, notably Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.
